The Annual Conference opens with a candid look at the fractured, fast-changing world we face today. In this fireside chat, Alan Murray, Founding President of the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute, joins former Page CEO Roger Bolton to explore the global forces reshaping leadership—geopolitical upheaval, economic disruption, climate volatility, and political chaos. Some argue the VUCA framework, coined by Warren Bennis and Burt Nanus in the late 1980s, no longer fully captures today’s reality. Is the world now more brittle, anxious, nonlinear, and incomprehensible than ever before? Drawing on decades at the intersection of leadership, capitalism, and change, Murray will

Polarities at Play: Leading Through Complexity

8:45 – 9:30am

Today’s stakeholder landscape feels more fractured than ever—social divides, political pressures, and global uncertainty are testing the agility and values of modern organizations. But this isn’t the first time leaders have faced deep division. In this powerful conversation, civil rights leader Rev. Peter Johnson—one of the youngest members of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s original staff—and Toyota Motor Corporation’s senior advisor, Julie Hamp, bring two essential perspectives: one shaped by decades on the front lines of social change, and the other by the challenges of leading a global brand through moments of public scrutiny and misinformation. Together, they’ll explore what

Getting it Right: The Language of Business, Culture and Polarization

9:30 a.m. – 10:20 a.m.

Polarization poses a critical threat to business leaders, and this challenge intensifies when business issues like climate, technology, and public health are framed with weaponized language—such as “climate crisis,” “regulatory overreach,” and “privacy invasion”—deepening divides and harming advocates on all sides. This panel will explore how leaders can shift these narratives and facilitate constructive dialogue—keeping in mind that “it’s not what people say, it’s what people hear.” Panelists will share strategies to communicate effectively, navigate complexity, and lead with resilience in an increasingly fragmented world.

To foster a culture of trust and peer support, members shall not engage in any unsolicited communication—verbal, written, or digital—primarily intended to promote or sell a product, service, or professional offering to another Page or Page Up member. This includes cold pitches, post-event follow-ups intended to generate business, or asking for meetings for business development purposes. While business connections are a natural outcome of relationship building, Page activities (virtual and in-person) are not intended to be sales environments. All Page programs are peer-to-peer, and contact information for members of the community should not be used for solicitation. Violations of this policy may result in direct intervention by Page leadership, with repeated offenses leading to limitations on participation in Page activities or removal from the membership.

We trust members to use good judgment and to help us keep the focus on the community. Though failures to observe Page’s non-solicitation policy are rare, they have a disproportionately negative impact on peer engagement. If you experience unwelcome solicitation through the Page network, please privately inform Page’s CEO, Rochelle Ford at rford@page.org. Thank you for your effort in helping to uphold the integrity of our community by ensuring interactions remain focused on learning, collaboration, and the collective advancement of the profession.
