Page Up presented its Manage for Tomorrow Award to Ethan McCarty, Founder and CEO of Integral, in recognition of his leadership in developing the Integral Index, a research initiative challenging how organizations measure employee engagement and understand workplace culture.
Launched in 2021 with The Harris Poll, the Integral Index examines the workplace conditions that shape employee behavior. Its 2026 edition surveyed 2,006 U.S. employees and uncovered a significant gap between reported engagement and actual workplace experiences. While 76% of employees appear engaged, one in three feels locked in place by benefits. That group predicts a corrosive workplace environment at more than three times the rate of disengaged employees.
McCarty also developed an economic model connecting employee experience to turnover and productivity costs, giving business leaders a way to understand its financial impact. He made the research, methodology and cost calculator freely available and donated the Index data to the Institute for Public Relations.
His work embodies the Page Principle Manage for Tomorrow by helping organizations identify risks before they become larger problems, strengthen workplace trust and make more informed decisions about their people.
