The Civility Call - Page x SHRM

Session X:  Navigating Business Communication in a Polarized Climate

We invite US-based CCOs and their direct reports to join us for our Civility Call (a collaborative effort by the Duke University Dialogue Project, Page and SHRM) on Monday, June 2 at 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. ET for a conversation with leading journalists who cover our industries.

Together, we’ll explore what these journalists are hearing from their audiences and interviewees on a range of complex and sensitive issues. How do they interpret the way organizations are navigating a landscape where a polarized society often means a polarized workforce? Our panelists will offer their perspectives on how companies are managing their operations, people, and reputations amid pressures such as trade and tax policies, immigration, manufacturing decisions, and shifting financial considerations around climate.

As more companies grow hesitant to take public positions on social issues, how are they communicating that posture internally—particularly to employees, who are often the catalysts for such conversations?

Our confirmed guest panelists are:

  • David Smith, Washington Bureau Chief, The Guardian
  • Steve Barrett, editor-in-chief, PR Week
  • Veronica Magan, editor-in-chief, SHRM
  • Bob Feldman. founder, The Dialogue Project (moderator)
