As we approach the Page Up Annual Conference, here are some highlights we’re looking forward to, and some key themes we’re excited to explore. This year's theme, Living in Parallel Worlds, is especially timely as we operate in a society with increasingly divergent expectations. Taking place in the historic city of Boston, our conference will explore the various issues that are elevating both the importance, and the stress, of our members.
Some key topics include:
- Regional vs. Global: As communicators for global organizations, the expectations on the global stage are often different from those in our local operating environments. Attendees will discuss how geography impacts discussions around topics like ESG and employee engagement. Brian Lott, CCO of Mubadala, will share his perspective on how the function of corporate communications has become increasingly global in scope.
- Addressing Divergent Stakeholder Expectations: Between rising political tensions, unrest on college campuses, and a general sense of fear for being targeted by activist stakeholders, communicators are walking an expectation tightrope. We will be holding conversations on each of these topics, as well as hosting a session on avoiding the inertia trap, which will provide actionable insights in acting decisively in the face of divergent stakeholder expectations.
- Adjusting to new realities: Employees are working in more diverse conditions than ever before. Over one-third of U.S.-based workers are either hybrid, flexible or remote. And with the rise of the gig economy, the relationship between employer and employee is becoming increasingly muddled. Our conversations at Page Up Annual Conference will discuss maintaining trust in these new realities, and will address how the channels through which we communicate are rapidly evolving, as well.
- U.S. Election: As November 5 draws ever-closer, the upcoming U.S. general election is weighing heavy on the minds of businesses and stakeholders alike. In Boston, we will have a stacked panel of Washington insiders, including a former congressman and presidential advisors, who will give a run-down on the potential outcomes of the election and what risks lie ahead.
